Adams County Regional Medical Center is expanding its services in Brown County, breaking ground on a new medical facility near the Southern State Community College campus in Mt. Orab.

ACRMC proudly held a ground breaking ceremony on Friday, Oct. 10, for its new ACRMC Family Medicine Clinic in Mt. Orab. The ceremony marked a major milestone in ACRMC’s mission to expand access to quality healthcare for families throughout Adams and Brown counties.

The event took place on the campus of Southern State Community College’s Mount Orab location and brought together community members, healthcare leaders, and local officials to celebrate this exciting new chapter for ACRMC.

Among those in attendance were State Representative Adam Bird of Ohio’s 63rd District and U.S. Congressman David Taylor, representing Ohio’s Second Congressional District. Both presented official commendations recognizing ACRMC’s continued dedication to improving community health and expanding healthcare services throughout the region. Their remarks highlighted the importance of rural healthcare and the positive impact ACRMC continues to make in local communities.

“This new clinic represents our ongoing commitment to bringing healthcare closer to home,” said Alan Bird, CEO of ACRMC. “We are grateful for the support of our community and our elected officials as we continue to grow and serve with excellence.”

The new Mount Orab Family Medicine Clinic will offer a full range of primary care services, including preventive care, wellness visits, chronic disease management, and same-day appointments for patients of all ages. Designed with convenience and accessibility in mind, the clinic will provide families in Mount Orab and surrounding areas with the high-quality care they deserve, close to home.

Construction on the facility is expected to be completed in September 2026 with plans to open shortly thereafter.

ACRMC extended its sincere appreciation to all who attended the ground breaking and to the many community partners who continue to support its mission of providing compassionate, high-quality healthcare throughout the region.

The project is part of the Appalachian Community Grant Program’s Mt. Orab Healthcare Services Revitalization.

In 2022, Ohio Governor Mike DeWine, then Lt. Governor Jon Husted, and Ohio Department of Development Director Lydia Mihalik partnered with the Ohio General Assembly to create the Appalachian Community Grant Program. This unprecedented investment directed $500 million into Ohio’s 32-county Appalachian region.

From the Appalachian Community Grant Program, $5,006,180 was awarded for ACRMC to construct a new medical facility near Mt. Orab to serve Brown County.

“We’re building about a 10,000 square foot building in the trees behind us,” Alan Bird said during the Oct. 10 ground breaking.

“We’re trying to restore more healthcare to Brown County,” said Alan Bird, also making mention of the partnership with Fayetteville-Perry School District to help provide healthcare services in northern Brown County.

ACRMC has plans of providing physical therapy, occupational therapy, and other medical services in the new facility being constructed in Fayetteville, according to Alan Bird.

“When Brown County Hospital closed, the only clinic in Fayetteville closed. I’m not sure if there’s been a clinic in Fayetteville since they closed,” Alan Bird explained the need for healthcare services in northern Brown County.

In 2026, ACRMC Family Medicine expects to have two clinics in two new buildings to provide services for Brown County, according to Alan Bird.

“Our little ACRMC Family Medicine, we’re going to have two clinics in brand new sticks and bricks, brick and mortar, opening within two or three months of each other,” said Alan Bird.

Alan Bird also mentioned the two-room mobile clinic they expect to hit the road in April of next year to help service Brown and Adams counties.

Construction on the new ACRMC facility in Mt. Orab is expected to begin within the next couple of weeks.

Alan Bird expressed his appreciation of Southern State Community College for the land next to their college campus in Mt. Orab where the new medical facility will be located.

“We would have went somewhere else, and they gave us amazing property next to their campus and next to that new (Ohio SR 32) overpass,” Alan Bird said while expressing his gratitude to the Southern State Community College Board of Directors.

“Those were not easy decisions on what we were, or weren’t going to do, so we’re very grateful,” he added.

Congressman Taylor took to the podium, noting the progress being made to improve healthcare services in Brown and surrounding counties.

“I’m glad to see steps like this being taken. Healthcare has been a main priority for our office since I got to Congress. We know that healthcare has to be made more accessible and affordable for people in the Second District, and here’s a big step toward accessibility,” Congressman Taylor said of the new ACRMC facility going up in Mt. Orab.
