She was born July 11, 1980 at the Brown County General Hospital in Georgetown, Ohio the daughter of Danny Roy and Phyllis Ann (Winkle) Colliver. Kanita was born the day before her mother’s birthday and Phyllis said she would always be a birthday gift that could not be topped. Her three big brothers, Nick, Kelly and Billy would call her the “Spoiled Child” and “Daddy’s Girl” and she had no problem being a small town girl. She attended Hamersville Elementary and Middle School and graduated in 1998 from Western Brown High School. Kanita became a registered medical assistant and began her career in 2000 at the Brown County General Hospital where she met the love of her life, Chris Tackett, even though she said he was not her type. They were married July 20, 2002 and when a husband and wife get a high over going to Goodwill, you know they are soulmates. To this union came two children, Jackson and Dani Tackett who Kanita named after her Daddy. Everyone said Dani was “Little Kanita” and one day that will mean the world to her. Jackson said he would feel his mama’s arms forever when he heard the song by Lynyrd Skynyrd “Simple Man” because that’s what she wanted for him. In 2010, after the hospital closed, Kanita started working for Health Source in Mt.Orab, Ohio where so many wonderful doctors and employees became close friends over the past 14 years.
