The Brown County Chamber of Commerce held its monthly membership meeting on Thursday, February 16 with record attendance of over 70 chamber members, community leaders and guests.

The meeting was held at and hosted by Sons of Toil Brewery and was co-hosted by People’s Bank.

Chamber members and guests experienced networking, learning about new and upcoming events, and were treated with a delicious lunch provided by the Sons of Toil kitchen.

The business topic presentation was delivered by Derek Chancellor on the priorities from Lt. Governor Jon Husted. Derek informed our members of the Ohio Common Sense Initiative (CSI). Led by Lt. Governor and Jon Husted, they review new and existing state government regulations as well as evaluates their impact on business growth and job creation.

Through this work, businesses are given a voice when state agencies are considering regulations that affect businesses’ and ensures that the perspectives of Ohio’s job creators and economic drivers remain a priority.

The next presentation came from Tosha, our Co-Host from Peoples Bank. Tosha spoke to our members about the services that they provide and all the different locations they serve in our Brown County area. Tosha also added that the importance of giving back to the community is a big part of what makes Peoples Bank so different.

Host John Caraway spoke to the chamber members about the growth of Sons of Toil, their kitchen hours (now open for lunch), menu items and their farmers market during the spring and summer.

He also added that many businesses and organizations are utilizing the space for meetings and gatherings.

The meeting ended with a tour of the brewery and those in attendance learned how all the brewery’s delicious ciders and beers are prepared.
