The Georgetown G-Men will take the soccer field this fall in search of the Southern Buckeye Athletic/Academic Conference National Division Title after finishing runner-up in league standings to the Bethel-Tate Tigers over the past two seasons. Once again, the G-Men are equipped with the talent, coaching, and determination it will take to make the climb to the top of SBAAC National Division standings. But the climb will again be steep in the very competitive league.

The G-Men may have lost a few key players from last year’s team to graduation, but on the return are two SBAAC National Division First Team.

After earning SBAAC National Division First Team soccer honors as juniors last year, midfielder Emerson Cahall and striker Cameron Brookbank are back for their senior seasons with the G-Men.

Cahall and Brookbank are both four-year starters on the Georgetown varsity soccer team, expected to be big contributors on the field once again this fall.

Brookbank led team in goals and finished top five in scoring in Southwest Ohio last season.

Cahall finished in double digit assists as well as goals scored last season and is a key playmaker in the midfield.

Other key returners for the G-Men include senior midfielders Koby Hyde and Morgan Fleming; senior defensive standouts Jackson Gregory and Noah Bishop; and sophomore midfielder Joshua Galley.

Back as head coach of the G-Men is Cory Cahall.

“We have an upperclassmen heavy team which will give us great experience on the field. I feel that we have good depth this year all over the field,” said Cory Cahall. “We hope this will be to our advantage and help us compete strongly in every game on the schedule this year. We hope to compete for the league title. It’s always tough with teams like Bethel, who is always very strong, along with a very competitive Blanchester squad. Our non league opponents such as Western Brown, New Richmond, Norwood, Clark Montessori, West Clermont and Lynchburg will also test our squad this season.”

The G-Men finished the regular season 12-4-1 last year which will be a very tall task to match again this year. “I am confident that we have the ability to do it. We just hope to keep everyone healthy. Most of all we want the kids to have fun and enjoy competing in the game of soccer while representing the G-Men,” said Cory Cahall.

With skilled and determined players on both ends of the field this fall, expect the G-Men to be well-balanced when speaking of their offense and defense.

“I feel we will be very strong both offensively and defensively,” said Cory Cahall. “We should be pretty solid all over the field with good depth on the bench. With up to 6-7 starting seniors, (that) should give us plenty of experience on the field. We have a great group of kids who like to get after it and play hard. As a coach, that’s all you can ask for.”

The G-Men are scheduled for a preseason scrimmage at Mason County High School on Aug. 8, and on Aug. 15 they will host the Eastern Warriors for a scrimmage.

The G-Men will officially kick off their new season on Aug. 18 with a home game against Norwood.

Back for his senior season with the Georgetown G-Men is Emerson Cahall, a four-year varsity starter who earned Southern Buckeye Athletic/Academic Conference National Division First Team honors last fall.
