This year marks the second year for the Shriners Hospital For Children “Poker Run” scheduled for Saturday, July 14 (rain date July 21). The event is being sponsored by Snappers Saloon in Ripley, organized by Faye Camden and Snappers owner Jerry Jones. Last years poker run hosted over 50 bikes and vehicles, according to Dink Dalton, who led the run. “It was a lot of fun for everyone last year and we raised over $1,600 for Shriners Hospital,” Camden said. “We anticipate having twice as many riders this year, so we’d like to invite riders from all over the county to come out and join us. “We would really like to thank everyone who made this all happen, People like Frank Hammonds, Perry Dawson Alan Sheriff and of course Rex Loudon.” The cost is only $10 per bike or vehicle and $10 per poker hand. Sign up will begin promptly at 11:30 a.m. at Snappers Saloon, 1 Main Street in Ripley. Half the funds go to the winning poker hand and half will go to Shriners Hospital. Kickstands up at 1 p.m. The route includes R.D.’s Bar in Russellville, Fraternal Order of Eagles 2232 in Georgetown, Brookie’s Bar in Ripley, then back to Snappers Saloon to draw the last poker card and enjoy music.
