Josie McElroy was a standout member of the Western Brown High School varsity softball team before graduating from high school in 2014, and she would go on to enjoy an outstanding softball career on the collegiate level at Bluffton University. McElroy graduated from Bluffton University on May 6 with a Bachelor’s degree in Sports Management and a Minor in Coaching. She was recruited to Bluffton University to play softball. She started all four years while at Bluffton. She was picked three years for the NCAA Division III All Region Team and four years as an All-Conference player.
McElroy ended her softball career as the most prolific offensive player in Bluffton University softball history. She broke many season records during her four years. This year she broke the slugging percentage with a .905 % and 14 home runs. For her college career, she broke many records including; All-time leader with a .414 batting average, .762 slugging percentage, 183 hits, 34 home runs, 135 RBI’s, 337 total bases, and 52 doubles. She was in the top five for all time on base percentage with .462. Because of her amazing career, there is now the Josie McElroy Offense Career Award. For 2018, she ended up eighth in the Nation for home runs for NCAA Division III. She wants to coach softball and provide softball training for young girls.
