Members of the Ripley Village Council met in regular session on August 8 and accepted a check from Vickie Carrington with the Ripley-Lieutenant Byrd Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution toward the purchase of new American flags for the village of Ripley.
Dee Watters, Chapter Regent for the DAR spoke briefly to Mayor Tom Leonard as he accepted the check.
“My name is Dee Watters and I am with the Ripley Lieutenant Byrd Chapter of the DAR, and we have noticed that the flags in the village are kind of worn and tattered in some places,” Watters said. “So we would like to present the village with a check for $150 to help replace some of the flags.”
Mayor Leonard thanked all the members of the DAR and said that council had made the decision a couple weeks ago to take the old flags down with plans to replace them.
