Ripley officer receives commendation for quick action

By Martha B. Jacob –

On June 27, Ripley Police Officer Corey Herren assisted Officer Anthony Mountjoy of the Aberdeen Police Department as he stopped three suspicious men as they ran across the roadway from the Aberdeen Cemetery to the Aberdeen Library.
While Officer Mountjoy was speaking to the men, he instructed them to remove their hands from their pockets.
While taking these actions, Officer Herren noted that one of the men failed to obey the command immediately and sensed that his behavior was elusive. He moved forward towards him without hesitation to take control of the potential deadly situation.
