Lady Rockets finish 12-12

The Fayetteville-Perry Lady Rockets’ 2016-17 basketball campaign came to an end on Feb. 25 at Monroe High School as they fell to Cincinnati Christian 40-32 in the Southwest District Division IV Sectional championship bout.
The No. 4 seed Lady Rockets earned a berth in the sectional finals after topping No. 9 seed Middletwon Christian on Feb. 21 in a contest that saw the Rockets rally back from a nine point deficit in the third quarter to win by six.
Fayetteville-Perry sophomore Cecilia Murphy tied her career high of 29 points to lead the Lady Rockets in scoring in the sectional win.
The Lady Rockets struggled to knock down shots in their sectional championship game on Feb. 25, connecting on 10-of-56 shots from the field for 17-percent.
The Lady Rockets will miss three seniors as they take the court next season – Taylor Cornett, Savannah Lynch, and Emily Houk – all who have put in four years with the Fayetteville-Perry High School girls basketball program.
“I’m very proud of the team and coaching staff for giving their all the entire season,” said Fayetteville-Perry head coach Toby Sheets.
