Ripley PTO to host 5K Fundraiser

The Parent-Teacher Organization at Ripley-Union-Lewis-Huntington High School will be hosting a fundraising event on Saturday, April 16 at the RULH High School.

The event is a 5K run/walk, which will begin at the school at 10 a.m. There is a $15 fee per entry, however kids under 10 years old are free with a paying adult. Kids need to be accompanied by an adult throughout the 5K.

There will be prizes for the first, second and third-place finishers. It is asked that participants wear their favorite Ripley/Blue Jay T-Shirts.

The race itself will take place on the cross-country course at the school. All proceeds will go toward field trips for the end of the school year.

Flyers were sent home with students, but sign-up sheets are also available in the offices of the elementary, middle and high schools. In addition, sign-ups will be available at the event.

Elaine Manning, a nurse at RULH High School, said the school’s PTO had not had too many fundraisers this year and that she hopes this will allow them to raise a bit of money for field trips.

“The PTO has not had a lot of fundraisers this year,” Manning said. “I mentioned it to one of the PTO members that I had done a few myself and felt that they were a good fundraiser. I figured it would be a quick fundraiser to do to get some funds together for field trips this year.”
