GEORGETOWN – The Grand Jury handed down an indictment to a Kentucky man for possession of what is known on the streets as “magic mushrooms” or “shrooms.”

Geoffrey Davies, 20, of Maysville, faces a two count indictment for aggravated possession of drugs, a second-degree felony; aggravated trafficking in drugs, a second-degree felony.

The indictment alleges Davies was in possession of Psilocyn, a Schedule I controlled substance fives times the bulk amount but less than 50 times the bulk amount.

Law enforcement seized nearly 200 grams of mushrooms and other items used in the sale of drugs including bags and scale.

According to reports the investigation was a result of a call of a truck parked in Sterling Township. Upon further investigation law enforcement discovered three sleeping individuals in the truck. The driver of the truck was Davies who allegedly admitted to owning the substance.

This marks the second case of mushrooms in Brown County over the past month. Brown County Assistant Prosecutor Zac Corbin, a lifelong resident, said he never remembers of case of mushrooms in the county yet have two over the past month.
