MOUNT ORAB – A tip by a patron in the next room has left four people facing drug charges in Mount Orab. A call that drug activity was occurring in the next room, Mt. Orab Police responded to the Green Crest Motel on the report that narcotics were being sold.

The caller informed police that vehicles were stopping by frequently and would have short 15 minute stays before leaving. Per court documents, Officer Mike Dearing responded to the call and said in his statement that due to the high volume of traffic and previous occurrences at the motel he investigated the call.

Dearing’s statement said he walked up on foot after parking his car and approached two males in a truck and then a single male in the passenger’s seat of another vehicle. That man was identified as Daniel Davis.

Davis said his girlfriend was in a room at the motel as well has his parents in room six according to the report. Dearing had asked Davis if he were at the motel to purchase narcotics but Davis said he was not there to purchase narcotics, but admitted he was in possession of methamphetamine, in the report.

Dearing stated upon hearing that Davis was in possession of methamphetamine, he requested assistance from other officers. Cpl. Eric Lang responded and Davis was placed into his vehicle. Dearing then said he approached the half opened door and entered the room where he encountered one male and two females as well as ‘a large amount of US currency.’

Dearing further stated he recognized the male. He had been under investigation for trafficking of methamphetamine since 2015. Dearing said he had been informed he was supplying large amounts of methamphetamine to the area.

The male was later identified as Donnie Fletcher.

Dearing then asked Fletcher what was in the room and started there was nothing, but then said there were a ‘couple grams of methamphetamine’ in the room. Dearing then asked for a consent to search the motel room and was granted. Deputy Brandon Johnson stood with the suspects while the room was searched.

Dearing stated that he and Lang entered the room where they recovered a substantial amount of methamphetamine, multiple items used in the trafficking of narcotics and the consumption of narcotics, and several hundred dollars in US currency.

The affidavit also indicates that a GMC truck and Kia Soul were also searched by police. Those searched yielded more methamphetamine, pills, scales, firearms and baggies.

Police arrested four suspects in the investigation. Davis and Fletcher were arrested for possession of methamphetamine as well as Dezaraya Fletcher and Deanna Fletcher.

According to the Probable Cause Affidavit, Donnie Fletcher had been using methamphetamine for over 20 years but denied selling methamphetamine for cash but allegedly admitted to trading it for items.

In Probable Cause Affidavit Davis stated he was addicted to methamphetamine and stated he sells to fewer than ten people.

In Probable Cause Affidavit Dezaraya Fletcher said she had used methamphetamine for several years and had recently traded methamphetamine for the pills that were found during the search by Police.

Deanna Fletcher had stated she had used methamphetamine for a long period of time and she currently had custody of two grandchildren who were in the Ameristay Hotel with Dezaraya’s children per the Probable Cause Affidavit.

The four allegedly would make trips to Dayton to pick up methamphetamine for resale in Brown County.

All subjects were arrested and charged with possession of drugs and drug trafficking, second-degree felonies.
