GEORGETOWN – Michael Davis, 18, from Sardinia, faces a five count indictment after allegedly shooting a deer from inside his vehicle.
According to the Prosecutor’s office, Davis is accused of multiple shootings from his vehicle throughout the county. Allegedly Davis was not alone when the shootings took place. Brown County Assistant Prosecutor Zac Corbin said an eye witness heard shots fired from what turned out to be a 2002 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 pickup truck. The witness was able to get a licenses plate number of the truck, which was traced to Davis.
Witnesses indicated there were three individuals in the truck at the time of the shootings and shots were fired from both the drivers and passengers side of the truck. Davis, the owner of the truck, was also the owner of a Mossberg 500 .20 gauge shotgun which was used in the alleged crime.
Davis is facing two counts of improper handling of a firearm in a motor vehicle, both fourth-degree felonies. The indictment alleges that Davis not only had a loaded firearm in his truck, but he discharged it from the vehicle. Because the firearm was allegedly discharged on a public roadway, Davis faces an additional felony as a result.
The indictment also indicates that Davis allegedly was attempting to or did shoot a deer from the road while in his vehicle. He is accused of taking a deer unlawfully per the Ohio Revised Code, a third-degree misdemeanor as well as interfering with enforcement of wildlife regulations, a first-degree misdemeanor.
Davis is scheduled to appear in court later in March.
