RIPLEY – Village Council entered the night with only five active members after the resignation of Roberta Sidwell a few weeks earlier, but would end the night with all six members in place.

At the end of the regularly scheduled meeting, Village Council entered executive session to discuss the open seat left by Sidwell. Hopefuls to fill the position sat outside the session and were called in one by one and interviewed by Council for the open seat. At the conclusion of their executive session, the Council reconvened with a decision. Upon a 3-2 vote Ripley selected Kathy Lewis as the newest member of Village Council.

“I wanted to try to help make a difference in our community,” Lewis said. “I want to help with maybe trying to get our town to prosper a little bit more.”

Lewis said she was ready to make a difference in the community by working with the current council to have a pro-business attitude and to help improve the lives of the residents of Ripley.

Lewis will be sworn in at the next Village Council meeting which is scheduled Feb. 23 at the village office.
