Learn about quilts

The Williamsburg Harmony Hill Association will present a Quilt Program on Saturday 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. June 13, at the Carriage House, 299 South Third Street in Williamsburg

Guest speaker will be Diana Kuhnell. She is an authority on quilts and has many old reference books to trace down the origin and theme given to each quilt. Harmony Hill members will have quilts on display and individuals attending may each bring one quilt for appraisal by Kuhnell. The program is free to the public. Dollie in concert at Lake Waynoka

Lake Waynoka Community Chapel is hoisting a concert with Christian music artist, Jimmy Doolie, 10 a.m. Sunday, June 14. Everyone is invited. Jimmy is one of the finest musicians around today and has a wonderful, spirit-led ministry.

Following the service, there will be a fellowship, covered dish dinner. The chapel will provide pork tenderloin and drinks. Bring a friend or two with you. RULH BOE meeting set

The next regular meeting of the RULH Board of Education will be 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 17, in the administrative office at the elementary building.

BC Commissioners special meeting

The Brown County Board of Commissioners will hold a special meeting 1 p.m. Thursday, June 18. The special meeting will take place at OVRDC, 73 Progress Drive, in Piketon, to consider effects, policies, funds and budgets for SFY 2016-2017 of Comprehensive Case Management and Employment Program, WIOA and TANF.

K of C Spring Dinner

The Knights of Columbus Spring Dinner will begin 11 a.m. Sunday, June 14. The cost is $8 and includes fried chicken or pork tenderloin, mashed potatoes, green beans, cole slaw, dessert and drink.

FCCLA Quarter raffle set

A Quarter Raffle will be held on Thursday, June 11 at Georgetown High School to benefit FCCLA. This non-profit organization for young men and women help them develop life skills that they will use in their Family, Career and as Community Leaders. Doors open at 6 the fun starts at 7. Paddles are $1 each, six for $5.There will be food available and a split the pot. Products from your favorite vendors. Money raised will help the members attend their national conference.

Catholic Rural Life to meet

Catholic Rural Life of the St. Martin Deanery will hold its regular meeting 7 p.m. Thursday, June 11. On the agenda are urging Congress to reauthorize the Child Nutrition Act. The meetings are open to anyone who shares the goals of bringing a Christian perspective to life in rural areas, preserving rural heritage and working to promote dialogue between rural and urban leaders.

The regular meeting of the Brown Metropolitan Housing Authority will be held 1 p.m. Thursday, June 11 at the ABCAP Building, located 406 West Plum Street, Room 102, in Georgetown.

BCIEF quarter raffle

A Quarter Raffle will be held on Friday, June 12 at Southern Hills Career and Technical Center on Hamer Road in Georgetown to benefit BCIEF. Doors open 6 p.m. and the fun begins 7 p.m. Paddles are $1 each or six for $5.

The non-profit group began in 2007 partnering with Dolly’s Imagination Library to provide books to children who reside in Brown County from birth to five years of age. Food will be available.

Lake Waynoka plans activities

Lake Waynoka and the surrounding community will be celebrating National Marina Day on June 12-14, at the Lake Waynoka Marina. All three days have a variety of activities planned. The festival will start 5 p.m. Friday, June 12 and will continue beginning 10 a.m. Saturday, June 13 then from noon to 5 p.m. Sunday, June 14. This event is open to the public. Guest access to The Health and Recreation Center (including the pools) will be discounted from $7 per guest to $3.

Sardinia UMC holds fun day

The Sardinia United Methodist Church will be having their annual Summer Kick Off 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday, June 13 at the church, 105 S. Main Street, in Sardinia (behind US Bank). Sardinia Historical Society quarter auction

The Sardinia Historical Society is sponsoring a Benefit Quarter Auction from 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday, June 13, at the Sardinia American Legion Hall. The doors will open 3 p.m. The Hall is located on College Avenue near the Old Sardinia School.

The auction is being held as a benefit for the Sardinia Cemetery Fence restoration project. The fence has been restored or reconstructed and reinstalled. The project is almost completed, however, the Society is in need of funds to have the project completely paid for. The Legion Auxiliary will have food items for sale during the auction. Proceeds for the food will go to the Legion Auxiliary.

Nazarene Church yard sale

A community yard sale will be hosted by Georgetown Nazarene Church. The church is located on state Route 125, across from McDonalds. The sale will take place beginning 9 a.m. Saturday, June 13. Eastern Star to host Fathers’ Day buffet

The Russellville Easter Star Chapter 461 will serve a Father’s Day buffet from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Saturday, June 13.

The menu will include pork tenderloin, meat loaf, scalloped potatoes, green beans, corn, cole slaw, apple sauce, rolls, assorted desserts and drinks. The cost is $10 for adults and $5 for children under 12.

Decatur Alumni dinner and meeting

The annual Decatur High School Alumni dinner and meeting will be held Saturday, June 13, in the Byrd Township Community Building. Honored classes will be 1940, 1945, 1950, 1955, 1960. Social hour will be from 5 to 6:30 p.m., dinner will be served 6:30 p.m.

The Policy Committee of the Board of Trustees of the Brown County Public Library will be held 5:30 p.m., Wednesday, June 17, immediately preceding the 6:30 p.m. regular monthly meeting.

Rummage sale set at St. Michael

There will be a rummage sale at St. Michael Hall, Ripley from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.Saturday, June 20 to 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday, June 21. All proceeds will benefit St. Michael School.

Fireman’s Festival set

The Annual Fayetteville Fireman’s Festival this year will be held on Sunday, June 21. The festivities begin immediately after the 2 p.m. parade until 11 p.m. Parade line up will be at 12 p.m. at the Fayetteville School Campus.

Retired Teachers hear from STRS

Brown County Retired Teachers’ Association will meet at noon Thursday, June 25 at the Brown County Education Service Center, 9231 Hamer Road, Georgetown. Kelley Barone a representative from STRS will present a program. Any STRS recipient, whether a member of BCRTA or not, is invited to attend and participate in the question and answer session.

All retired teachers, aides, and school personnel interested in education are invited to attend. One new service project is to donate school supplies to the BCESC Pre K Program. Hamersville Alumni Association banquet set

The annual Hamersville Alumni Association will host the annual alumni banquet begining 6 p.m. Saturday, June 27. All alumni are invited to attend. The event will be held at Hamersville Elementary and Middle School, locat 1950 state Route 125, in Hamersville. Registration begins 6 p.m., the banquet begins 7 p.m.

Classes to be honored include 1970, 1965, 1960, 1955, 1950, 1945, 1940 and 1935.

The cost, which includes the meal and entertainment, is $15 per person. The meal will be catered by Good Seasonings Catering. A special room will be available for the honored classes to meet with former classmates.
