By Martha B. Jacob –

The annual Rick Eagan Memorial 5K Run/Walk is coming up fast, as preparations for the event are already in motion according to his daughter Tiffany Regenstein.
Rick Eagan was serving as Brown County Commissioner when he passed away suddenly in May, 2012. He was severely injured when he was hit by a car in 2009 and went through numerous surgeries and many setbacks during his recovery.
Eagan spent much of his adult life serving his community in one form or another.
“This year marks five years since my father died and we want to continue to remember him for the great man that he was,” Regenstein said. “The Rick Eagan Memorial Scholarship goes to help a graduating Ripley senior, to help further his or her education.
“With the help of family, friends and the community, this scholarship has been able to help out 8 seniors in the past four years. We hope to continue this scholarship for as long as we possibly can.”
This years event will be held on Saturday, May 20 beginning with registration at 8 a.m. at the Ripley Elementary School. The race will begin at 9 a.m.
The cost will be $15 for adults, $7 for children 10-17 and children under 10 participate for free.
This price includes a shirt, sizes available are small, medium, large, X-large, 2XL and 3 XL. The shirts are the same as last year.
“Pre-registration is encouraged and available,” Regenstein said. “Contact me at trregenstein_2012@yahoo.com or Nowana Bingaman at bingaman_4@sbcglobal.net with any questions.”
