The Fayetteville-Perry Lady Rockets cruised to a 10-0 victory over the visiting Ripley-Union-Lewis-Huntington Lady Jays in Wednesday’s round of high school softball action.
Fayetteville’s Paige Vilvens pitched for the win while also going two-for-three at the bat with a single, double, and walk.
The Rockets led 1-0 after two innings of play, but racked up five runs in the third inning and three more in the fourth to take a 9-0 lead, en route to their 10-run victory in a game that lasted six innings.
The win marked the first Southern Hills Athletic Conference victory for the Lady Rockets this season as they started off with a 1-0 record.
The Lady Rockets were scheduled to face the Lynchburg-Clay Lady Mustangs in a SHAC road game on March 30 and were scheduled to venture to Williamsburg for a non-league double header on April 1.
