On Tuesday, March 9 a group of students from St. Michael Catholic School performed at the Maysville Community and Technical College during the 8th Annual Farm and Family Night.
Maddie Scales, Aaron Teegarden, Emma Helbling and Alex Arn performed traditional American music alongside Mason County High School senior, Sam Comberger.
Comberger has studied old-time Kentucky fiddle with Ben Pedigo for a number of years and is preparing to record her first demo in April. While Maddie, Aaron, Emma and Alex have only been studying violin with Mr. Pedigo for a few months, they performed a number of traditional fiddle songs at the event that they are currently polishing for the St. Michael Spring Concert.
Due to the large number of musical instruments added to the St. Michael Music Program this year, the St. Michael Spring Concert will take place at the Gaslight Theater in Georgetown, Ohio on May 11 at 6:30 p.m.
Over 20 students from first and second grade will be performing on ukuleles along with another 20 third and fourth graders performing on guitars. In the upper grades, 12 students will be performing on the violin and another 5 will be performing on the Appalachian dulcimer. The performance will be open to the public and free of charge.
