image_550William Dale Cornetet, age 72 of Georgetown, Ohio died Friday, December 16, 2016 at the Mt. Orab Medical Center in Mt. Orab, Ohio. He had been the advertising manager for the News Democrat. Prior to that job Bill had been a broadcaster on radio stations WAXZ in Georgetown, Ohio and WSRW in Hillsboro, Ohio; a former Brown County School truant officer, a truck driver for Ford Brothers and a courier for National Bank & Trust. He was a member of the Mt. Nebo United Methodist Church, a Viet Nam Army veteran, past commander of the Wilson Sroufe VFW Post  # 9772 and the Carey Bavis American Legion Post #180, a past board member of trustees of ABCAP, a Kentucky Colonel, a Tennessee Squire and an avid golfer. He was born April 2, 1944 in Macon, Ohio the son of the late Ray F. and Elizabeth (Mangus) Cornetet. Bill was also preceded in death by two sisters – Dorothy Heaton and Lucille Heaton; one brother – James Cornetet; three brothers-in-law – William Acree, Sr., Glenn Heaton and Doug Bohl; one sister-in-law – Jackie Cornetet and three nieces – Sue Hines, Nancy Heaton and Beth Heaton.

Mr. Cornetet is survived by his wife of fifty years – Sharon (Preston) Cornetet, whom he married September 9, 1966; one daughter – Joanna Lawrence and husband Dan of Bethel, Ohio; two grandchildren – Kenneth Lawrence and wife Laura of Winchester, Ohio and Catie Lucas and husband Tyler of Mt. Orab, Ohio; one step great granddaughter – Ava Lucas; two sisters – Carol Jean Acree and Anna Bohl – both of Williamsburg, Ohio and one brother-in-law – Howard Heaton of Hillsboro, Ohio.

Following cremation, a memorial service will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, December 22, 2016 at the Cahall Funeral Home in Georgetown, Ohio. Rev. Mike Starkey will officiate. Visitation will be from 12:00 P.M. – 2:00 P.M. Thursday at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Decatur Cemetery in Decatur, Ohio.
