As the leaves begin to fall, excitement around the area rises as volleyball and soccer head into the postseason. Tournament play begins with the sectional round and local schools found out exactly where they were going Sunday, October 11.

Volleyball postseason play begins this weekend and a host of local teams get things started Saturday, October 17. Western Brown (13-7) earned the fifth seed in the Division II – Blanchester tournament bracket and will face Taylor High School (12-8) at 12:30 p.m. Saturday afternoon.

Ripley, Felicity and Georgetown will all travel to Mariemont High School for matches Saturday. The Lady Blue Jays will face Reading (14-6) at 4 p.m. Saturday at Mariemont High School in the Division III sectional while Georgetown (6-13) faces off against Middletown Christian (3-16) at 1 p.m. Felicity (10-9) opens postseason play against Gamble Montessori (7-5) at 2:30 p.m., following the completion of the Lady G-Men’s match.

The Bethel-Tate lady Tigers will also be in action Saturday afternoon. They square off against Badin (8-11) at 12:30 p.m at Wyoming High School.

Eastern Brown volleyball will travel to Northwest High School for their first-round matchup Tuesday, October 20 at 6 p.m.

Fayetteville earned a first-round bye in the tournament. The Lady Rockets (10-7) will square off against the winner of Lockland (9-7) and Cincinnati Country Day (5-9) Wednesday, October 21 at 6 p.m. All of the above matches will be played at Mariemont High School.

Meanwhile, soccer draws were also held last weekend. Western Brown’s boys team will travel to Blanchester, Wednesday, October 21 for a 7 p.m. matchup against the 11-1-2 Wildcats. Should the Broncos win the match, they earn a bout against top-seeded McNicholas High School (9-3-3) Saturday, October 24.

In Division III, the Bethel-Tate Tigers are the area’s highest-seeded team in that division. The Tigers (9-3-3) earned the seventh seed in the tournament and have a home matchup against Clark Montessori (6-6-2) at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, October 20.

Two other local boys’ soccer squads will be in action that night as well. The Georgetown G-Men (10-5-1) earned the ninth seed and will host Finneytown (4-10) that same night while Fayetteville (8-3) travells to Purcell Marian (7-8). Should those teams win their match, they would meet in the next round on October 24.

Ripley’s boys squad will receive a bye out of the first round. The Blue Jays will square off against Roger Bacon (10-2-2) or North College Hill (2-8-1) on October 24. It will be a road matchup for Ripley, as both teams are seeded higher than the Blue Jays.

Felicity’s first-round matchup will be against Maderia (8-6-1) on October 21st.

Eastern Brown (10-3) earned the second seed in their D-III Southeast bracket. The team will face seventh-seeded Adena (2-5-2) at home on Monday, October 19 at 5 p.m.

The girls’ soccer draw saw Western Brown awarded the ninth seed in the Division II – Cincinnati bracket and a home matchup with Wilmington (9-4-2) on October 19 at 7 p.m. The Lady Broncos would face Mariemont (9-5-1), a team they lost to 4-3 earlier this month on a last-second goal, should they win their first-round match.

In the Division III – South bracket, Georgetown (7-6-3) earned the highest seed of any local team. The Lady G-Men will square off against Finneytown (2-8-3) in Georgetown on October 19 at 7 p.m. Should the Lady G-Men win, they will take on third-seeded Maderia (7-7-1) on Thursday, October 22 at 7 p.m.

Bethel earned the next-best seed and a matchup against the Ripley Lady Blue Jays. The 10th-seeded Lady Tigers (5-7-1) will face the 11th-seeded Lady Jays (6-6-2) on Ocotober 19th at 7 p.m. in Bethel with the winner moving on to face two-seed Cincinnati Country Day (10-1-1) on October 22nd.

Fayetteville’s Lady Rockets (4-9-1) will travel to Reading High School (7-7-1) for their opening matchup. Should the Lady Rockets advance, they will take on the Felicity-Franklin Lady Cardinals (1-11) on October 22nd.

The Eastern Lady Warriors earned a three-seed in the Southeast District Soccer Tournament. They will face Northwest (4-7) at home on October 20 at 6 p.m.
